Clinical trials in India are all set to become transparent. Bringing an end to the days of hushed-up drug trials on illiterate patients, who were unaware of the experiment’s real risks, the Indian Council of Medical Research is launching India's official Clinical Trials Registry on July 20.
Any researcher who plans to conduct a trial of "drugs, surgical procedures, preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, devices, educational or behavioural treatments, rehabilitation strategies and complementary therapies" involving human participants will have to register the trial with CTRI before enrolment of the first participant.
