Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) plays major role in over all clinical research operation. CRC performs his task staying closely with the investigative site and investigator. CRC, more likely as local marriage agent in an International marriage Function, serves as a bridge between sponsor and the Investigator/site. He tries to fulfill everyone’s need even uncertain of who is going to compensate him, is that old groom (Sponsor) desperately looking for his bride (of course enrolled subjects) so that his blockbuster son can come into existence, or that international marriage contractors (CROs) ready to make the old groom out of pocket, or that local marriage agency he is working closely with (Site/Investigators, with the philosophy ‘something is better than nothing’). But there is hope someone will do.
Although, there are SMOs (Site Management Organisations), which hire CRCs and assign them on investigative sites, could be a good option to join with as they provide a continue work flow with reasonable salary and stable job.
Other option would be the institutions/hospitals with stablished Clinical research Units (CRU) in their facility.
Probably the above figure seems as a blue print of any American Jet Fighter, but if you can stress a bit on your eyes you can make out the figure demonstrating a common way of communication in clinical research process.
Since investigators are busy people, engaged in looking after their family (Institution/clinic, of course they have to take care of other patients too), its hard for them to give their 100% time in research studies. This factor makes CRC a preferred choice of communication between site and sponsor/CRO.
