According to 'Business Standard' Indian government has planned to setup Pharmaceutical Zones on international airports across the country to facilitate export of drugs.

"These zones would have (Good Manufacturing Practices) GMP-compliant centres and the creation of zones in the place of transit would allow us to test the materials on conditions, which are similar to the production facility," Surinder Singh, DCGI said.

National health regulator, DCGI is also working on increasing its manpower in the country as it also plans to conduct live audits of clinical trials.

DCGI is also planning to rope in private laboratories for testing of drugs and is also looking to revamp the working of five national laboratories under it.
